1 Peter 2:9
" But you are a chosen people,
a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
a people belonging to God,
that you may declare the praises of him
who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. "
We are chosen to be...
Colossians 3:12-14
"Therefore, as God's chosen people,
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.
Forgive as the lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love,
which blinds them all together in perfect unity."
"holy and dearly loved, clothed yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
2. Salt and Light
Matthew 5:13-16:
You are the salt of the earth;
but if the salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored?
...
You
are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid...
Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works
and
give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
"As a christian, we are chosen to walk through life, and to be a living sacrifice. Just like our lord God Jesus who died on the cross for us, so that our sins could be cleansed and forgiven. T.V. Philip says, "Christians are not other worldly. We are not to spend our time thinking of how to escape from the world. Nor are we to be preoccupied with churchly matters. The Church is not the kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is about this world, and about our life and witness in the world. It is about politics, about economics and about culture. It is about our environment, about the destruction of nuclear weapons. It is about peace. How are we to fulfil our responsibility in the society in which we live? Jesus said: You are the salt of the earth; you are the light of the world." by T.V. Philip
John 15: 2
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,
while every branch that does bear fruit
he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
We must:
- find the sweet spot in life (areas where you can influence others)
- be the person God created you to be (use your gifts wisely)
- so that it makes a difference in other people's life
